According to Santa Clara County Sheriff, Laron Campbell has been taken back in custody and is being transported back to Santa Clara County.
Officials say they are continuing to search for Rogelio Chavez.
Authorities say the pair of potentially dangerous prisoners cut through the bars of a California jail, rappelled to the ground on a bedsheet rope and escaped.
Officials say both men have extensive rap sheets including firearms violation, robbery, burglary, extortion and criminal threats.
Chavez has a distinctive face tattoo resembling an inky gash going through his left eye and if you see him, do not approach him and call 911 immediately.
Chavez and Campbell were among four inmates who broke out of Santa Clara County's main jail late Wednesday. The others were quickly captured.
Investigators say that all four of the men shared the same cell and they are trying to piece together if this was a planned effort between all four men, or whether the two that were caught saw an opportunity and took it.
Chavez and Campbell are facing possible life sentences if convicted of burglary, extortion, false imprisonment and other charges.
