I am a born and raised Nevadan, a former gang prosecutor, and the only candidate for Attorney General who has ever prosecuted a criminal case. During my time in the Legislature, I have introduced and passed bills to ban AI generated child pornography, strengthen penalties for fentanyl trafficking and organized retail theft, and crack down on elder abuse. I reached across party lines to increase education funding and give teachers raises across Nevada, to support working families and bring jobs to our state, and to help make healthcare more accessible and affordable for Nevadans. I have the legal and policy expertise to do the job of Attorney General on day one. 

WHAT IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY IF ELECTED?

As Attorney General, I am ready to get to work prosecuting criminal fraud and organized retail theft rings, protecting children online, enforcing consumer protection laws, and standing up for Nevadans’ rights.

IN JUST A FEW SENTENCES: WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FACING OUR STATE, AND HOW WOULD YOU FIX IT?

Nevadans are facing unprecedented cost increases for everything from housing to healthcare to groceries. As Attorney General, I am ready to use our consumer protection laws to ensure that corporations are playing by the same rules as everybody else by enforcing fair pricing, taking on insurance and drug companies that are putting critical healthcare out of reach, and making sure everyday goods are more affordable.

CONSUMER PRICES, GAS PRICES, AND HOUSING COSTS ARE HISTORICALLY HIGH, WHILE WAGES HAVE NOT KEPT PACE IN NEVADA. WHAT IS YOUR PLAN TO HELP NEVADANS WHO ARE STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY?

As Attorney General, I would focus on ensuring fair trade practices by targeting surveillance pricing, price fixing, and other scams that unfairly increase the costs of everyday goods for Nevadans. I would also seek protections for home buyers and renters against the use of AI by landlords and corporations that unfairly inflate the cost of housing. And I would work with the Legislature to again pass legislation - with strong enforcement mechanisms - to crack down on corporate buy ups of homes that price out working families and seniors.

WHERE DO YOU STAND ON THE RAPID DEVELOPMENT OF AI, AND THE PROLIFERATION OF DATA CENTERS? WHAT ROLE DO YOU SEE NEVADA TAKING IN EACH?

I’m the only candidate who has released a plan for how the Attorney General’s office will handle the explosion of data centers across Nevada, while my opponent has said we just have to accept unregulated data center expansion. We need new guardrails to protect our communities and natural resources. My plan calls for data centers to pay 100% of the costs of the water and power these facilities require and to use technology that accounts for Nevada’s climate and water scarcity. We must prohibit any state agency, the Governor’s Office, or local governments from negotiating data center deals in secret and give communities more input before these facilities are approved.

As AI technology proliferates, we need to make sure there are common sense guardrails that keep Nevadans safe, that it does not displace workers, and does not come at the expense of our economy or the working families who power it.
