New Health Office to Cut Weeks-Long Medical Marijuana Waits

An old technology has been applied to help correct a problem many cultivators have faced through the years and that's mold in marijuana.

To correct the problem a new machine called Apex, created by Ziel, is helping prevent cultivators from failing the test that measures the amount of mold and yeast in the flower.

The machine that uses radio frequency has been used in agriculture for the past 10 years, but for the past five, they have been using it for cannabis. Here in Nevada Hydro Tahoe is one of three companies to have the machine.

“As a cultivator and a business this has been a tremendous help for not only ours but we believe with the tolling model we can help other cultivators in the market place as well,” says Mark Bruno from Tahoe Hydro.

The process is simple, after growing the flower, an operator can throw up to 20 pounds of cannabis in the machine, and 20 minutes later, it is ready to be sent for testing with reduced chances for failure.

“It’s fixing a problem that a lot of other industries have already remedied and cannabis is just getting to that point so they can provide something safe and consistent to the end consumer,” says Alec Garcia owner at 374 labs.
