A man was arrested after a chase through Sparks Thursday night.
Around 8:40 p.m. Sparks Police were conducting a follow-up investigation of a domestic violence incident in the 500 block of Sullivan Lane when they say 24-year-old Stanley Rogers of Reno emerged from behind an apartment building . He was wearing dark clothing, a bandana covering his face, and holding a handgun.
Police identified themselves and told Rogers to stop, but say he fled the scene, dropping his weapon and taking off in a pickup truck.
Officers were able to locate Rogers driving northbound on Rock Boulevard at a high rate of speed. They say he turned onto westbound Vance Way but lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a fence and cinder block pillar, causing substantial damage to both. He then fled the vehicle and hid in a residential yard.
Police set up a perimeter from Rock Boulevard to Oppio Way and from Vance Way to Tyler Way, and performed a yard-to-yard search for the suspect. They eventually caught Rogers in a yard in the 1500 block of Tyler Way.
Rogers was arrested and will be charged with being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, felony eluding, leaving the scene of an accident and obstructing officers. His total bail has not yet been determined.
