Reno Police tell Channel 2 News they have arrested a man many of you wrote us about on social media.
Police have identified him as 53-year-old Michael Woolsey. Right now he is being held on unrelated warrant charges but police are continuing to investigate the Meadowood Mall incident.
Earlier police said a woman was approached by Woolsey in the parking lot at Meadowood Mall before 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say Woolsey claimed to have lost his briefcase and needed the woman's help getting to a bank to get money wired to him. "He was kind of acting suspiciously and made some statements about not being able to deposit money due to the Patriot Act. Which obviously raises some concerns," said Officer Tim Broadway. The woman told him she could not help him and Woolsey walked away. The woman watched, but police say he approached other nearby women and spoke to them also. The suspect started asking other women to give him a ride to the bank.
Police were called about the incident, but when officers arrived, the man was gone.Â
One of the victims created a Facebook post detailing the incident with the suspect, in hopes he would be identified.Â
