RTC to Host Mayberry Drive Reconstruction Project Meeting May 20th

From the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County:

The RTC is encouraging the community to learn more about the impacts of the reconstruction of Mayberry Drive by attending an informational open house. The open house will be held March 12 at Hunter Lake Elementary School at 909 Hunter Lake Drive in Reno from 5 to 6 p.m. There will not be a formal presentation, but people will have the opportunity get their questions answered from the project team and receive information about the impacts to traffic and access.

The reconstruction project will begin March 23 with shoulder closures from Charles Drive to Hunter Lake Drive. Starting on March 28, and continuing through mid-April, Mayberry Drive will be closed to all but residents, emergency vehicles and delivery vehicles. The closure to all but local traffic will be from Charles Drive to Hunter Lake Drive.

Detour signs will assist drivers to get around the closure. The closure will take place during spring break for students at nearby Hunter Lake Elementary School in order to minimize disruptions. The closure will last about two weeks. The full closure of the intersection of Hunter Lake Drive and Mayberry Drive will be necessary shortly before the project wraps up in May.

This $1.1 million investment in the community will improve roadway conditions by fully replacing the existing pavement section. Additionally, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, curbs and gutters will be replaced as necessary. The improvements, which include audible pedestrian cues, will make the area more accessible to everyone in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The traffic signal at Hunter Lake Drive and Mayberry Drive will also be partially replaced with more modern equipment – this will improve safety and reliability.
