Portions of Virginia Street to Soon Undergo Construction

The Regional Transportation Commission is holding a construction kick-off block party Thursday to give the public a chance to learn more about a South Virginia Street Corridor project.

The event will be 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at 800 S. Virginia Street (parking lot next to Midtown Eats) to mark the start of the Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension Project.

The event will be a pre-playa celebration with a construction photo booth, an art car and DJ. There will be free food, non-alcoholic beverages and giveaways. Attendees can sign up for Virginia Street project updates at the event for an opportunity to receive two Burning Man tickets and playa accessories.

Construction on the Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension Project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 4. The $80 million project is funded with fuel tax, federal and private funds.
