The law comes after a gunman in the Mandalay Bay resort opened fire in 2017 on a country music festival, killing 58 people on the Las Vegas Strip.
A lawyer for Las Vegas police told a judge that charges could be filed in connection with the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, even though the gunman is dead. Â
