  • Angela Schilling Wednesday evening will be hot through sunset, and staying warm overnight with lows in the mid 60’s. Highs on Wednesday were in the mid to upper 90’s. Thanks to the Washoe Zephyr it will be a touch breezy through 8pm with gusts in the 20’s. Make sure to stay fire aware as our fuels are drying out from the current heat. A Red Flag Warning is up for the Truckee Meadows and down through Carson City and Minden due to thunderstorms on Thursday. The storms will be fast movers and capable of dry lightning and gusty outflow winds. There is a better chance for storms on Friday, but there will also be more moisture to work with. However, the fire threat is not zero on Friday either. Most of the storms will develop in the afternoon, but the ones on Friday will initiate a few hours sooner. Heat Advisories continue in Pershing and Churchill Counties until Friday morning. Seek the shade to cool off and staying hydrated will be the best thing you can do with the warm conditions. It will be cooler over the weekend, but still feeling like summer with highs around 80 degrees.
