Complete Streets programs are designed to help improve safety for all types of roadway travel and the Regional Transportation Commission wants the public's input on where these improvements should be made.Â
The RTC says that the installation of complete street elements have been shown to reduce crashes and reduce the severity of crashes. Some of these elements might include bike lanes, bus lanes, pedestrian flashing beacons, and street trees.Â
Several Complete Street projects have already been completed in the area, RTC says, including: Keystone Avenue, Victorian Avenue, Nichol Boulevard, Arlington Avenue, Sutro Street, and Plumas Street.Â
A community workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 13th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Discovery Museum on Center Street in Reno. Citizens are invited to help develop a Complete Streets Master Plan, help identify future locations for Complete Street improvements, and provide comments and feedback as the RTC updates the Reno-Sparks Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.Â
