Sparks Police say a 19-year-old Reed High School student was arrested on Monday accused of inappropriate sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl.Â
Police say both are students at Reed High School and the incident occurred as the two were walking home from school on Thursday, October 15th. Police say once the two reached her home, 19-year-old Ben Duran-Ruiz told the victim he had a headache and asked if he could have some aspirin. Police say Duran-Ruiz asked to have a private conversation in the girls’ bedroom. Detectives say that’s when the alleged misconduct took place.Â
Investigators say Duran-Ruiz claimed the interaction was consensual, though the victim claims otherwise.Â
Police say the case was under investigation until yesterday when Duran-Ruiz was arrested.
Due to the age of the suspect and victim, any sexual conduct between the two would be illegal.Â
Sparks Police arrested Duran-Ruiz and charged him with one count of Lewdness with a Child under the age of 16 and one count of statutory sexual seduction of a minor by a person under 21.
