Sparks Police say they are investigating an early morning accident that left a pedestrian dead on Victorian Avenue, just east of Kietzke Lane.
When officers arrived on scene, around 3:15 a.m., they found 55-year-old Eugene Larry Shorthorn in the bike lane of east Victorian with major trauma to his upper body and head. He died on scene.
Police say Shorthorn appeared to be walking in the bike lane, close to the sidewalk, and was struck from behind by a vehicle.
Police obtained surveillance video of vehicles traveling in the area at that time. They would like to speak to the drivers of a small light colored passenger car, a light colored pick-up truck and semi. They believe a passenger was also riding in the semi.
They say it’s unknown if drugs and/or alcohol was involved in the accident.
