Sparks Police Searching for Man Who Robbed Food Mart

Sparks Police say an unknown man robbed the Victorian Food Mart on Tuesday, October 4th at approximately 8 pm.

The Sparks Police Department say they received a 911 hang up call from the Victorian Food Mart located at 1675 Victorian Avenue.

Dispatchers say they were able to make contact with the cashier and learned that a man armed with a gun robbed the store.

The cashier told the officers that a Hispanic male in his 50's entered the store and approached him demanding money from the cash drawer. Police say the suspect threatened the cashier and told him he would kill him if he did not do as told. They say the suspect had his hands in the front pocket of his hoodie sweatshirt and simulated a gun tucked into the pocket. The cashier says he handed over an undisclosed amount of money and he was then directed to lie down on the floor while the suspect escaped. Police say that no injuries were reported.

Authorities say that between the cashier, a witness and video surveillance, the suspect was described as possibly being in his 50's wearing a light grey hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans, prescription glasses, a salt and pepper colored mustache and a ball cap.

Police say he was last seen leaving the area north on foot. Officers say they followed the path indicated and discovered that the suspect had knocked on doors in the 300 block of 16th street and asked residents to call him a cab. Officers say they were unable to determine if the suspect successfully contacted a cab company.
