Former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Fred Claire has died. He was 91. Claire began as a sports writer before joining the Dodgers in 1969, the start of a 30-year career with the team. He became general manager in 1987, leading the team to a World Series victory in 1988. Working first in public relations for the team, Claire was known for his role in creating the Dodger Blue branding and the Think Blue campaign. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and battled the disease for 11 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
