The party isn't quite over for those celebrating St. Patrick's Day out on the town. People are taking full advantage of all things Irish and they're in luck with some free options to get home safely.Â
"We're having green beer tonight and we're having some Irish car bombs," said Jackie Wicks from Reno. "We're just having fun with friends."
St. Patricks Day doesn't mean you need to be Irish to celebrate.
"We get dressed up. I don't drink, but we love to enjoy the festivities with everybody," said Nancy Taylor from Reno.Â
With four leaf clovers, the color green, lephrachauns and plenty of partying, people from all over are out and about. Wells Avenue is just one of the places to be for the festivities. Several Irish pubs look forward to this day, like Rapscallions.Â
"Every year we have a countdown sign in our bar area. We count down to St. Patrick's Day 365 days a year. So we pretty much wait for this since last March," said Patrick Dalton, the general manager for Rapscillions.Â
The bar is packed with beer, kegs, and plenty of plastic cups ready to go. All hands are on deck while the busy crowd is bringing in the holiday festivities. Â People are celebrating all things Irish tonight, but one thing people shouldn't do is push their luck on Nevada roadways.
There are a couple of ways to get home safely without chancing it.Â
RTC buses will run for free until midnight.
AAA will be offering their "Tipsy Tow" program that takes you home within ten miles without being a member all the way through 6:00 a.m.
And of course there's always the option of calling a taxi.
"It starts out just for the bail amount, $3,000 dollars," said Officer Tim Broadway with the Reno Police Department. "But looking long term after court fees and insurance, you're looking at $6,000 dollars for your first offense DUI."
