With Street Vibrations here, area law enforcement agencies want you to keep an extra eye on the road this weekend. The Reno Police Department says there are simple things you can do to keep yourself and everybody else safe.
“Give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination,” said St. Joe Robinson. “Make sure you are checking your blind spots and mirrors for motorcycles. Change lanes when it is safe to do so, and drive without distractions.”
There are between 50,000 and 100,000 motorcyclists in town for the event this weekend. Typically during this event, we see more car vs. motorcycle accidents. That is something that can be prevented, officials say.
It is all about mutual responsibility from both drivers and motorcyclists.
“If you are riding a motorcycle in the State of Nevada, you cannot split lanes,” said Robinson. “You need a D-O-T approved helmet and all the necessary equipment on you motorcycles such as rear view mirrors.”
Even though they cannot split lanes, it is legal motorcyclists to share lanes.
Be aware that Virginia Street is closed in Downtown Reno through the weekend.
