CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- The Governor's Office of Energy has approved $66 million in tax incentives for a solar energy project in southern Nevada.
Â
Sempra U.S. Gas & Power's Copper Mountain Solar 3 in Boulder City is expected to create 300 construction jobs and employ 10 full-time workers afterward.
Â
The tax abatements include $46 million in property taxes over 20 years and $20 million in sales and use taxes over three years.
Â
But state officials say Nevada will benefit from $732 million in capital investment and other taxes paid by the company over that time frame.
Â
Once completed, the 250 megawatt facility will be capable of powering 80,000 homes.
Â
The power will be sold to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the city of Burbank under a 20-year contract.
