Teachers Get School Supplies During Teacher Appreciation Week

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, teachers all across Washoe County are being thanked for the work they do each and every day.

As a way to say thank you, teachers were invited to "Shop Til they Drop," for school supplies at the Education Alliance Teachers Warehouse on Thursday.

Janice Pearson has been teaching in Washoe County for 11 years, and she was so grateful for the opportunity to grab both new and used items for her classroom.

"Gives teachers an opportunity to break away from the textbook a little bit and get into something fun to enhance their curriculum," says Pearson.

The materials at the warehouse are collected all year long, and the location serves as a convenient place to store all the donated supplies.

Kendall Inskip, Executive Director for the Education Alliance of Washoe County, says the teachers are welcome to take anything they want for free, thanks to the generous donations they receive.

“Last Friday we had a donation day, we got 13 palettes of items donated from our generous businesses and community members,” says Inskip.

The warehouse is open to teachers all year long on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

However, the Washoe County School District will only be celebrating teacher appreciation week until Sunday, May 8th.
