The Nevada Department of Public Safety to Test Wear New Uniform

The Nevada Department of Public Safety says they will be testing out a proposed new uniform. The areas involved in the test are Reno, Las Vegas, and Elko.

The new uniforms include a light gray shirt with navy pocket flaps and epaulets with charcoal gray pants with a navy stripe.

There will be six DPS Officers/Troopers throughout the state that will be wearing the uniform during this period. However, the six personnel will have no contact with the public in an enforcement capacity however, it is possible.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety says they want to make sure the public is aware that if they happen to have interaction with law enforcement officers identifying themselves as the Nevada Highway Patrol or DPS officer dressed in an the new proposed uniform they are law enforcement officers who can enforce any laws in the State of Nevada.
