The Democratic National Convention started in Philadelphia on Monday. The convention allows delegates from around the country to gather together to establish the Democratic Nominee.
The convention allows speakers to voice their opinions and help sway votes.
Monday night's lineup includes:
Pam Livengood who has been personally affected by the growing substance abuse epidemic. Livengood raised the issue with Hillary Clinton while at a roundtable discussion in New Hampshire.Â
Karla & Francisa Ortiz are citizens of Las Vegas, but they live in fear of being deported since they are undocumented. Both are in a campaign ad regarding Clinton and her hope to make path to citizenship easier.
Anastacia Somoza, along with her twin sister from New York, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia when she was born. She is an advocate for Americans with disabilities. Somoza interned for Clinton in her US Senate office and on the 2000 campaign for Senate.
Rounding out the evening are DREAMer Astrid Silva, Senator Bernie Sanders and First Lady Michelle Obama.
The Democrat National Convention will continue until this Thursday.
