The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says one man has been arrested in connection to a fire at the old railroad station in Dayton on Wednesday.
Officials say 63-year-old Kurt Selzer, of Ventura California, was found after a second brush fire, that started with a lighter and a nearly empty jug of acetone.Â
Central Lyon Fire Protection District says the depot was a total loss and the fire started other spot fires nearby.
Officials say embers from the fire caught two more buildings on fire, and a nearby house. They say all three fires are being investigated separately.
Deputies say nobody was injured.
Officials say the depot was undergoing restoration at the time of the fires.
We spoke to Stony Tennant, who was leading those renovations about the loss of the historic building.Â
"I've been working on this for over 20 years and getting this whole thing put together. We bought the land, we moved the building, we got it all ready to rebuild, we have $56,000 of material here. Full dimensional lumber, custom made doors and windows and everything to match the old building. It's very depressing."
Selzer was charged with two counts of third degree arson and his bail is set for $10,000.Â
The arson is still under investigation however, if you have any information that may help authorities, call the Lyon County Sheriff's Office at 775-463-6600.
