UPDATE - August 7:

Detectives with the Reno Police Regional Gang Unit have identified 22-year-old Jordan Santiago as the suspect in the shooting that occurred near downtown Reno on July 9.

Investigators determined the incident was gang-motivated.

Santiago was already in custody at the Washoe County Jail in connection with a separate shooting that occurred on May 11, 2025 (Reno Police Department Case #25-9093).

In that earlier case, he was arrested for discharging a weapon where persons may be endangered and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

As a result of the July 9 investigation, Santiago has now also been booked on additional charges, including:

  • Attempted Murder with a Deadly Weapon
  • Battery with a Deadly Weapon Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm
  • Discharging a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle

ORIGINAL STORY - July 11: 

On July 9, just before 6:30 p.m., Reno Police responded to the area of 6th Street and Lake Street following reports of a shooting.

Officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect had fled before officers arrived. At the time, investigators believed the incident was isolated and posed no ongoing threat to the public.
