The Bureau of Land Management has issued the final environmental impact statement for the proposed Spring Valley Gold Mine.
The mine is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Lovelock and 70 miles southwest of Winnemucca in Pershing County.
The project area covers 14,623 acres, including 10,205 acres of public land.
Planned surface disturbance would total about 6,396 acres.
If approved, Solidus Resources, LLC, would construct, operate, and maintain an open-pit gold mine along with three waste rock facilities and a heap leach facility.
The company plans to return the land to its natural condition following the completion of the project.
Construction is expected to employ around 130 contractor workers during the first two years.
Once operational, the mine would support approximately 250 full-time employees.
The project timeline spans 21 years, including two years of construction, 11 years of mining, three additional years for ore processing, and five years for reclamation and closure.
According to the Bureau of Land Management, the project supports the President’s executive order titled “Ensuring National Security and Economic Resilience Through Section 232 Actions on Processed Critical Minerals and Derivative Products.”
The proposed mine is expected to create 250 new jobs in Pershing County and contribute to the local economy.
A notice of availability will be published on Friday, June 13, in the Federal Register to initiate a 30-day public review period ending July 14.
