The Girls Reno Rock Camp is kicking off this week and this year, it will be entirely online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Officials say it's the best way to ensure the safety of all its staff and participants.

The camp is an annual music summer camp for kids between 9 and 17 years old.

The Holland Project is partnering with the camp this year. They say 75% of participants have had no music experience at all, but through their workshops, the kids will gain instruction on vocals, guitar, bass and drums.

Officials say the goal of the camp is to counter the underrepresentation of women and people of marginalized gender identities in music.

For more information on the camp, visit their website or Facebook page.
