The New Year brings 365 new chances to start over. A new beginning could simply mean not taking that smoking break, or cutting down on drinking.
“We start off strong but it’s not sustainable that’s why it’s important to access where you are at and make a plan on how to progress how you want to and get that support again, whether through family, friends or seeking help through treatment and other health care providers,” says Health Educator Nicole Alberti.
Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, the steps to quit remain similar, As well as the results for not trying.
With nearly half a million deaths annual according to the CDC, smoking can also cause cancer and heart disease. That’s why there are resources to help.
“We are really lucky in our state we have the Nevada tobacco user quit line so for people who want to quit tobacco products including e cigarettes, it’s not just a hot line you call they can also provide counseling to help you quit tobacco use,” says Alberti.
