The Reno Police Department says crews are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car in the area of Evergreen Street and South Meadows Parkway on Monday.

They said the pedestrian was a ten-year-old boy and he was taken to a local hospital with two broken legs.

Officials said the child was crossing South Meadows Parkway and was hit by a car when it was turning onto South Meadows from Evergreen.

They said the child had the right of way.

Officials said the driver of the car remained on scene and was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

They said neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

The Reno Police Department said the area around South Meadows Parkway and Double R Boulevard was closed for the investigation, but has since reopened.

Officials said the names of those involved are not being released at this time.
