Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has vetoed a pair of bills related to elections.
Assembly Bill 499Â would have required voters to show a photo ID at the polls.
The governor said he wholeheartedly supports voter ID laws, but that he felt the bill fell short on addressing his concerns about ballots cast by mail, since those ballots could still be accepted solely based on a signature match under the bill.
The governor also vetoed a bill that would have allowed for open primaries in the state.
Assembly Bill 597 would have let nonpartisan voters participate in either the Democratic or Republican primaries in Nevada.
The governor said he vetoed it because voters rejected the idea at the ballot box in the last election.
