Providers with Carson Valley Health will no longer be in-network with Prominence Medicare Advantage starting later this year.

The change will take effect on October 16, according to a letter from Carson Valley Health to patients.

Patients using Prominence could qualify for a special enrollment period where they can switch to a Medicare Advantage Plan that includes Carson Valley Health, according to the letter.

Those plans include Aetna Medicare, Anthem Medicaid, Wellcare, SilverSummit Medicare, and UnitedHealthcare Medicare.

You can change plans using the Special Enrollment Period using the steps below.

  • Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) and explain that your provider is no longer in-network. TTY users can call 1-877-486-2048.
  • Request a Special Enrollment Period due to a network provider termination.
  • Compare plans that continue to contract with Carson Valley Health and enroll in the plan that meets your needs. You typically have up to three (3) months from the termination notice date to use this Special Enrollment Period.

It is not known at this time why Prominence is removing Carson Valley Health from its network.
