After 21 years, Barracuda Championship won’t be returning to Montreux Golf and Country Club.
“We have looked at a number of golf courses in the area, we will continue to look into a few more,” says Chris Hoff, tournament’s director. “The next steps would be get someone from PGA tour to help us look at the facility a little more closely and make sure they are capable of hosting the tour event and take it from there," he says.
As far as where they are moving to, that is still a question mark.
There is no doubt the tournament is an important event to our area; it not only brings national and international marketing, people and money to our region, but it also helps the community.
“We’ve benefited over 100 different charities in the tournaments history, the goal is that we continue to generate some great dollars to charities, I think this year after everything is set and done we will be close to the four, five million dollar mark to charities,” says Hoff.
Tournament officials tell us, they should have an update in about one to two months.
