Postgame notes – UNLV
-Junior WR Romeo Doubs had a career night, finishing the game with seven receptions for a career-high 219 yards, averaging 31.2 yards per catch, and a long of 65 yards. It marks Doubs’ first 200-yard receiving game and sixth game of 100 yards or more. He finished the first half having already established a career-high with 189 receiving yards on five catches.
-Romeo Doubs is the first Nevada receiver to go over 200 yards in a single game since Brendan O’Leary-Orange notched 214 against SDSU on Nov. 18, 2017. It marks the 22nd 200-yard receiving performance in program history and is 16th-most all-time in a single game at Nevada.
-Sophomore QB Carson Strong extended his streak of consecutive pass attempts without an interception to 230, which leads the nation and is second-most in Mountain West history.
-Carson Strong finished the game completing 77.8 percent (21-of-27) of his passes for 350 yards and threw two touchdown passes. Strong has thrown for 300 yards or more in four consecutive games. He finished the first half 15-of-19 for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
-Junior LB Lamin Touray registered his first career sack in the third quarter, part of three sacks on the night for Nevada. Senior Sam Hammond and junior Dom Peterson also recorded sacks in the game, which gives Hammond 3.5 in his career and gives Peterson 13.0.
-Junior DT Dom Peterson recorded 1.5 tackles for loss in the game, extending his tackles for loss streak to 10 games and has recorded a TFL in 13 of his last 14 games.
-True freshman Jamaal Bell returned a kickoff 50 yards in the opening quarter, the longest kickoff return by a Nevada player since Daiyan Henley’s 47 yard return vs. Air Force on Oct. 20, 2017.
-The first collegiate points and the first collegiate touchdown in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas belong to the Wolf Pack. Sophomore PK Brandon Talton opened the scoring in Allegiant Stadium on the Pack’s first drive of the game with a 32-yard field goal. Sophomore RB Devonte Lee then scored the first TD inside the stadium at the 4:33 mark of the first quarter on a 1-yd run. It marked Lee’s 15th rushing TD of his career.
-Sophomore PK Brandon Talton finished the game 3-of-3 in field goal attempts, with a long of 34 yards. He is now 25-of-29 in his career and has made his last 10 field goal attempts dating back to last season.
-Sophomore WR Justin Lockhart recorded the first receiving touchdown of his career just before the end of the first half to put Nevada up by 12, 24-12.
-Redshirt freshman WR Charles Ross hauled in his first career reception in the second quarter that went for 10 yards.
-Junior DB JoJuan Claiborne led the Wolf Pack with eight total tackles, establishing a career high.
-Nevada starts the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2014 season. It’s the first time the Wolf Pack has started conference play 2-0 since 2013.
-The all-time series now stands at 27-19 in favor of Nevada, it snaps a two-game losing streak to UNLV and gets the Fremont Cannon back to Reno for the first time since 2018.
