World Long Drive Championship in Reno .jpg

The world's longest hitters will take center stage in Northern Nevada this fall as the World Long Drive Championship begins a new home at Wildcreek Golf Course.

The Pinnacle World Long Drive Tour announced the championship will be held Oct. 14-17 at the course, launching a three-year partnership that will keep the event in Reno Tahoe through 2028. The championship is expected to bring elite athletes from more than 30 countries and thousands of spectators to the region.

The event is also expected to provide an economic boost for local hotels, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses as visitors travel to Northern Nevada for the competition. The championship will air nationally on Golf Channel on Dec. 1.

The event comes as Wildcreek Golf Course undergoes a major redevelopment led by First Tee Northern Nevada. Plans for the public course include a renovated par-three course, a new championship nine-hole course, future practice facilities, a multilevel driving range, and a redesigned clubhouse that will serve as a restaurant, learning center, and community gathering place.

The partnership also will create opportunities for local children through First Tee Northern Nevada. During championship week, participants in the program will have opportunities to take part in youth-focused World Long Drive activities.

The championship will be open to the public Oct. 14-17. Additional details, including parking information and competition schedules, will be announced in the coming months.
