The holidays are approaching and this year the pandemic has forced many families to look for help. Toys for Tots is already collecting donations to distribute to those in need.
"This year has been a tough year with COVID and trying to find stable work," says mother of two, Joanna Warthan.
The warehouse is filled with toys, but because no one has donated yet, they are using last year's funds to pay for the toys. They've had 201 applications so far, but that number is going up. "We get submissions of 40 people in just a couple hours, depends on the day," says Chelsey Miller.
Families have until November 15th to apply for toys and donors have until December 24th to give. All toys must be new. You can either drop toys off at their warehouse, mail toys or donate money.
To keep everyone safe, instead of long lines out of the door, families are picking gifts by appointment only.
"Hope next year will be a little better for everybody," says Grandmother of six, Perry Mills-Thompson.
