Join the Veterans Guest House as they celebrate 20 years of serving veterans and their families, this Veterans Day, November 11th. The day's activities include the special release of orange balloons in honor to those affected by Agent Orange, participation in the Veterans Day parade and an open house.
9-10 a.m.: Participants all over the country will release orange balloons simultaneously to raise awareness of the devastating effects of Agent Orange exposure. The public is invited to meet on the lawn of the Veterans Guest House and release balloons, provided by the Guest House, in honor of their loved ones. Agent Orange is the term used to describe a powerful herbicide and defoliant used most recognizably during the Vietnam War.
11:11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.: The Guest House will participate in the City of Reno Veterans Day Parade. The parade will start at Powning Park and travel north to Fifth and Virginia streets.
Noon-3 p.m.: After the parade, join us for an open house to celebrate our 20th year with cake and champagne, enjoy barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers and tour the Veterans Guest House at 880 Locust St. until 3 p.m. For those who haven't gotten their flu shot, Immunize Nevada will be providing shots to those at least seven years old.
