An estimated 8% of the U.S. population is living with an autoimmune disease. That’s when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, tissues or organs causing long-term inflammation and damage. While there’s no known cure for many of them, researchers are looking into whether a breakthrough cancer therapy is the missing piece that could solve that problem. In today’s Health Minute, Mandy Gaither talks to the lead researcher about her team’s mission that’s targeting some of the most common autoimmune diseases.
