Red Flag Warnings are up for the Sierra Front through 9 pm Friday due to critical fire danger. Wind speeds will be in the mid 30’s through early Friday night, combining with dry air increasing fire danger. An area of high pressure is located to our east, with a trough up to the northwest. The ridge and the trough combined increases the pressure gradient, and therefore, increases wind speeds. Saturday will be the hottest day of the week, with highs around 100 degrees. Monsoonal moisture then moves in on Sunday, increasing cloud cover, and giving areas mainly south of Highway 50 a chance for rain and thunderstorms.
