Preventing dangerous RSV in infants
We’re officially in respiratory virus season. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it typically runs October through mid-May, and the agency expects the U.S. will see a similar rate of combined peak hospitalizations due to these viruses as we did last season. One of the most dangerous for children and older adults is respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. In today’s Health Minute, Mandy Gaither has more on why experts say this virus is a leading cause of hospitalization for infants and steps that can be taken to help prevent an infection.
