Washoe County voters have approved hiking the local sales tax half a penny to raise $780 million for school improvements in the Reno-Sparks area over the next 10 years.
"It's a great day to walk in and see an overcrowded school and to know that help is on the way," says Washoe County School District Superintendent Traci Davis. The help she's talking about is money, in the form of a Washoe County sales tax increase.
Damonte Ranch High School opened new classrooms on Monday as part of the school's expansion project.
