The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (BGCTM) and other local groups are showing their holiday spirit during the season of giving.

BGCTM held its eighth annual Breakfast With Santa event. Instead of having the event inside the building, it was held on its parking lot on 9th Street.

Anne Studevaker, BGCTM's Family Plus Director said, "this year we turned it into a drive-through event so that everybody can still have the experience and we can do it in a safe way."

Hundreds of cars drove through the event, about 700 meals were served to-go and the Four Kids Foundation and Soles for Souls donated about 800 coats and socks to give to families. Studevaker said it was important to continue the tradition of giving this year to help people feel the holiday spirit.

"With the pandemic, so many things have been canceled; so many fun experiences have been canceled." said Studevaker. "This way families get to come and see Santa, they get to see Christmas decorations and they get to see their friends. So that's why this year it's more important than it ever has been before."

The season of giving will continue in December at the BGCTM's main location on 9th Street. On December 17 it plans to serve families hot Christmas dinners.
