After being closed for several weeks, the galleries at the Nevada Museum of Art are reopening this Saturday for a new exhibition, the first one ever of its kind.Â
"Tahoe: A Visual History" features 175 artists and more than 400 art objects, which span over 200 years of art and cultural history.Â
Some of the artifacts date back to the mid 1800's, like native basketry, historical mapping, historical paintings and more.
The museum says this exhibit has been in the works for five years, and it's getting attention from around the United States because something like this has never been done before.Â
"So 'Tahoe: Visual History' is the first comprehensive art survey that has ever been done on Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake, and the surrounding Sierra region," said Amanda Horn, Director of Communications at the museum. "We did that at the Nevada Museum of Art."
The exhibit opens 10:00 a.m, Saturday, and is on display until January 10. For more information, go to http://www.nevadaart.org/
