Beale Airman Dies While Hiking in South Lake Tahoe

Authorities say a Beale Airman died while hiking in South Lake Tahoe early Monday evening.

Beale AFB says Airman 1st Class Tyler Oimoen was assigned to the 9th Force Support Squadron at Beale Air Force as a Food Service Apprentice. He arrived at Beale over one year ago. He was from Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Airman Oimoen's family, co-workers and friends. During this difficult time we are caring for his family and co-workers with the support of the Beale community," said Lt. Col. Matthew R. Mountcastle, 9th Force Support Squadron commander.  

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
