Carson City Search & Rescue is conducting an evidence search on Goni Hill, where skeletal remains of a person were found.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office says the human remains were found in the area of Goni Hills on Tuesday.
They said around noon a hiker discovered the remains 400 yards from the nearest dirt trail road. The discovery was around 1,400 yards south of the Storey County/Carson City line and over 4,500 yards from the Lyon County line.
Detectives retrieved a human skull, jaw and what appeared to be a single vertebra within a circle area of 40 feet. The bones were fully decomposed, suggesting the remains had been exposed for an extended period of time.Â
All the remains will be transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office for examination and an attempt to identify the remains.Â
Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Carson City Sheriff's Office at (775) 887-2500.
