Starting tomorrow, you at home should be seeing mail come in requesting you to take part in the US census.

It happens every ten years. Some people have never taken part in the census and wonder how it will affect them and their family. They say there shouldn’t be a reason to fear or to panic. All the information is confidential and cannot be used against you.

Census 2020 is here, raising questions and creating a lot of stress among a lot of people.

“There is no citizenship question there, and the government is legally obligated to keep that information confidential, regardless of your status, anyone who fills out the census, your information stays secure,” says Dennise Mena with ACTIONN.

All the questions asked during census can have a big impact in the world we see around us. Transportation, education, and health care are only some of the matters relying on census numbers. If you’re filing for your home, you should count everyone who is living there as of April 1st of this year.

“It’s not like they can take that information and use it against you, against your family that is simply inappropriate illegal and they can’t do it,” says Bret Whipple, attorney-at-law.

There will be a meeting to talk about the census on Wednesday:

El Cafecito: Livestream event from Tu Casa Latina’s Facebook page
