Churchill Sheriff's Office Says Two Men Killed in Sand Mountain Recreation Area

Churchill County Deputies say two people were killed this past weekend in separate crashes at the Bureau of Land Management's Sand Mountain Recreation area near Fallon.

They say 37-year-old Travis Walker, of Sparks, was struck and killed Friday by a sand rail.

76-year-old Richard Hill of Sacramento man died Saturday while riding a quad. Deputies say his family indicated that he had significant medical history that may have been related to his death.

    

Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter says deputies responded to a call involving a weapons offense as well. 33-year-old Justin Crowell of Reno was arrested Saturday night on numerous counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. They say he pointed a firearm at and threatened numerous people at a camping area at the facility. Crowell has since been released from jail after posting bail.
