Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve has issued a mandatory curfew within the Reno city limits starting at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Sunday, May 31. The curfew will go into effect beginning at 5:30 p.m. this evening and shall expire Monday, June 1 at 5 a.m. unless further extended.
During the hours of the curfew only residents that have an essential reason to be out (i.e. people traveling to/from work, medical personnel, etc.) are permitted to be out past 5:30 p.m. in the Reno City limits.
Residents are asked to please avoid the downtown area, and to adhere to the curfew to help protect the safety of our community. As a precaution, there may be a heavy police and National Guard presence in downtown Reno throughout the evening.

Earlier, the City of Reno addressed downtown Reno riots and expressed disappointment in the destruction of the City.
Officials say there were no major injuries in the riots. There is no report on the extent of the damages but there were several businesses impacted by the destruction along with Reno City Hall.
The Reno Police Department acting Police Chief, Tom Robinson, says these actions will not be tolerated and that those who are caught on camera or otherwise will be prosecuted for what they did.
Reno Police also say there were 20 other locations in the city where crews were responding on May 30 to destruction.
Officials realize the people who were protesting did so in the right way, and may not have been associated with the riots and violence that occurred into the night.
Reno Police have a plan in place if crowds begin to gather again and will adjust their response based on crowd dynamics.
Governor Sisolak also spoke at the press conference. He expressed disgust in the individuals who vandalized and damaged property defending the people of Reno saying this is our home, and those who did this to our home are not welcome here.
"If you came to cause destruction... go home. Get out of our state, get out of our city, because you're not part of what Reno is about. You're not apart of what the state of Nevada is about."
Officials thanked all of those who came out Sunday morning to help clean up the streets of Reno.
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve says vandals will be held accountable, along with 21 other people were taken into custody on Saturday night.
"When those reports come in, and we have all of those videos, we will prosecute. If you were rioting in our streets and doing things that were harmful to our city. Illegal activity we will not tolerate that."
The City of Reno says City Hall is closed tomorrow, June 1, to staff and the public to allow for cleaning and damage assessment.
