The Arizona Diamondbacks named Triple-A Reno OF Oswaldo Arcia (@arciaoswaldo) and Triple-A Reno RHP Braden Shipley the Aces Minor League Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Month for May. Arcia also took home the overall organization Player of the Month award.
Arcia, 26, hit .367 (29-for-79) with 12 doubles, six home runs, and 29 RBI in 22 games in May for the Aces. He ranked among Pacific Coast League leaders in May in slugging pct. (1st, .747), OPS (1st, 1.166), extra-base hits (1st, 18), RBI (1st), doubles (T-2nd) and average (6th). A native of Anaco, Venezuela, he signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on Dec. 23, 2016.
Shipley, 25, finished the month of May 2-0 with a 3.67 ERA in four starts. The University of Nevada product tossed Reno’s first complete game of the season on May, 21st against the Omaha Storm Chasers. In the month of May, Shipley threw 27.0 innings, striking out 17 batters. A native of Medford, Oregon, he was drafted with the 15th overall pick of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft.Â
