The president of the Desert Research Institute is stepping down from her position.
Dr. Kristen Averyt announced Monday she would be leaving the DRI on June 30th due to personal reasons.
In her statement, Dr. Averyt said, "the past two years have been very rewarding and I have enjoyed working with the NSHE team and everyone at DRI. I am proud of the work we've done to connect DRI's mission with society, share the impact of the important research DRI performs across Nevada and tell the inspiring stories of the remarkable people at DRI."
Dr. Averyt has been president of the DRI since the summer of 2017.
Dr. Kumud Acharya will serve as DRI's officer in charge while the search for a new president begins in July.
