The newest Margaritaville Resort held their grand opening in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday. The Davison Hospitality Group brought in their very own all season Margaritaville Resort to Tahoe in hopes that the beachy atmosphere will warm up those who come to visit, even when it's snowing.Â
Thom Geshay, the CEO and President of the Davidson Hospitality Group told us why they chose the location.
"Being the first ski destination resort where we can bring our style of lifestyle and escapism for the Margaritaville to the mountains is great," he said. "In our other locations we get toes in the sand. Tahoe we get tips in the snow."
The resort includes an outdoor live entertainment deck for all seasons, as well as a new JWB prime restaurant.Â
"Margaritaville is synonymous with fun, activating and exciting food, and beverage outlets, and restaurants and bars," said Pete Sams, the Chief Operating Officer for Davidson Hospitality Group. "If you haven't been to the land shark yet it's incredible we think it's going to be the epicenter of the community."
The Margaritaville resort has provided more than 300 additional jobs in the community. They're hoping the resort will become the "center of the universe" of South Lake Tahoe.Â
Bob Jensch, the Managing Director of the Margaritaville Resort told us more about what we can expect from the resort.
"399 suites are completely redone in Margaritaville style," he said. "It is an incredible personality brand named after a guy and a song from 1977 and our whole attitude is delivering fun and escapism, and that's what we're going to do there. Winter, summer, water, ski and the beautiful mountains. It's going to be an incredible addition to the local community."
They said the energy in the room for opening day was palpable, as the staff were also a huge part of making the big day possible.
"Today represents a culmination of so much time, effort, vision," Sams said. "It's a tribute to so many people who were highly engaged and committed to getting us to this day."
Geshay followed with: "A year from today we want it to be super successful strong… full restaurants full bars and adding to the community adding a different style to the community of South Lake Tahoe."
