Free Pancakes at IHOP Benefits Local Children's Hospital

Today is “National Pancake Day” and IHOPs around the country are giving away a short stack of pancakes while accepting donations for the Children’s Miracle Network. All of the money collected will stay in Northern Nevada and go to Renown Children’s Hospital.

Since partnering in 2008 with Renown, local IHOPs have given away more than 70,000 short stacks of pancakes and over $75,000. Last year, they raised $18,000 and hope to do the same this “National Pancake Day”. The money will go to upgrading their glide scope machine, which helps doctors visualize children's throats.

“The glide scope is a piece of equipment used in the emergency room and pediatric ICU to help with intubations and visualize the throat for our most critically ill children,” said Lawrence Duncan, V.P. of Pediatrics for Renown Health. He says they use this machine at least a dozen times a day.

You can head to any of the 5 local IHOP locations today in-between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m for a free short stack of pancakes and to donate.

The Renown Children’s Hospital sees about 30,000 children a year and is the only children’s hospital in between Sacramento and Salt Lake City.
