Coming on the heels of the Las Vegas shooting, the Rocky Mountain Gun Shows event is canceled.  It was scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at the Grand Sierra Resort.

A spokesperson says the GSR originally asked Rocky Mountain Gun Shows to pull its advertisements, and by Tuesday afternoon, the event was canceled altogether. The show's promoter says he feels horrible about the shooting in Las Vegas but that he was still prepared to move forward with the show as planned.

This particular gun show comes to Reno about three times per year, bringing different vendors who sell anything from firearms to ammunition.  They also have booths for outdoor gear for things like fishing and camping supplies.

The last-minute cancellation means those vendors will likely lose out on income generated from the event.

There is a difference in opinion when it comes to the timing of gun shows.  The Reno-Sparks Convention Center hosted the Crossroads Reno Gunshow less than a week after the Las Vegas shooting, on Oct. 7-8.  The Grand Sierra Resort is scheduled to host the Big Reno Firearms and Collectibles show, Nov. 10-12.  Â
