Prince Philip has been discharged from a London hospital and joined his wife Queen Elizabeth II for Christmas at her rural retreat.
His release just in time for Christmas is good news for the senior royals who will gather there.
The royals usually exchange small gifts on Christmas Eve and attend church together on Christmas morning.
It is not known if Philip will be strong enough to attend. Buckingham Palace says he was being treated for a pre-existing condition.
The 98-year-old prince has stepped down from public duties in recent years in recognition of his long service and advanced age.
